I'll give you the details, Neko. I'm not trying to reinvent Suden Death with either feature. The UGSCS version needed some fleshing out, and I couldn't do much with it. Neko, you and I have fixed that one. This feature I got an idea from after reading all of the arguing between you and Shelly at the beginning of the 7th Masters, when Tom Bergeron left the ToL for the first time. You 2 discussed, in some very blunt terms, your relative opinions of Tom, and I know that in multiple other threads, Shelly and Laurie have used, in particular, the word abuse. That's where this idea came from, to guarantee some checks and balances. I personally don't think that what you did was abuse, but I can see their point of view. Thus, this idea was born.

But now, someone like me might be in the minority because all of the hosts that you guys hate will be nominated for this feature, and I'm the only one who's going to like them when I vote. So I'm screwed, and you guys will see Bergeron and Combs finish low because it's going to be a field day. I'm not feeling it.

I'm going to say this one more time: THIS FEATURE IS INTENDED FOR THE TOURNAMENT OF LOSERS ONLY!

Now c'mon Mandy. I've been getting way better in my vote patterns on Bergeron and Combs. Should I point out that I have yet to cast a single vote for either one of them?
The funny part is that I just read that... there was a debate on whether these people were actually hosts in that installment too. It wasn't until Megs was almost ready for the Hall of Fame that I was able to authoritatively state that once and for all by reading that link on tv.com that she is in fact a co-host. I also found it later on the castings4film page. I should have found that earlier so that all the people would have been quelled all that time ago.
My biggest problem with Bergeron happens to be the same problem that Mandy stated in the 7th Masters -- that he will get absurdly high. I think he finished in the top 20 during UGSHS 17! I don't honestly see the man's appeal to THAT extent! He annoyed me on H2 and AFV. He was pretty good on DWTS, but I'm fairly convinced that anyone could host it and make it at least somewhat successful. I listen to people on GSN that say he's great on the show, but very few people outside of the boards mention him at all when they talk about DWTS.
I've been trying to get around the middle of the pack, and I think I've been doing good with that. I actually like the way Mandy puts it because it's rational and logical.
But what really makes Bergeron that good to finish in, I think it was 13th from the top? I'm not seeing it.
I should put in his co-host to see how she fares.
As for Combs, You know I grew up with Dawson and Combs was a... well, slightly above average host when he was alive. But you can't tell me that he wouldn't have hosted another game show if he hadn't hung himself. This is part ego on his part, part personal philosophies. (I mean Ray Combs had another show. It was called Family Challenge, but he hated it because he wanted to be back on the Feud, that weighed into my decision. Keep in mind, I never really disliked this guy until after that happened. All of a sudden, it was like... wait a minute. He wasn't that good)
AFAIK, it's hard to discern abuse in the tournament of losers because it is a free-for-all, barring the FF's and BD being used. Plus, some people think a host belongs there, others don't, usually, unless you're dealing with a really rotten host like Sinatra. However, even Sinatra has one supporter -- Pikacrow thought that he just had a bad vehicle to work with!
Anyways, that's my take on it. I'm tired -- I've been up since 6 this morning and I need some sleep.

There are a couple more hosts you should put in either one or the other or the other: The boys from High Stakes Poker and John Fugelsang -- I think that's how you spell it -- from one of the seasons of WSoBJ.
Though I don't know how they'll personally fare, we should all see how it turns out. Perhaps we'll have some more low ranked hosts, or we might have some strong finishers.

I'm definitely adding them next installment.
As for high finishers, usually there seems to be no rhyme or reason for high finishers.
I'll give you an example. Megan Riordan's debut appearance in UGSHS 12. She finished in a very lackluster location -- I think she was 7th division up. The next installment, she shot up like a rocket and finished in the 3rd division from the top of the pack. Virtually every installment since, she finished in the top division. True story.
Laurie has a theory that all the Hall of Famers pull into one of three categories.
1. Truly classic hosts that belong up there.
2. Massive fan favorite hosts that belong up there. Usually with #2, we have at least half the board that thinks the host should be up there, and so he or she is.
3. The "What the F*^%?" hosts. These are hosts that we can assuredly say that we have no idea why they ended up there.

Well, I have to think that some hosts don't quite fit into one of those 3 categories. I'd have to increase it to include a fourth category:
4. The personal favorite hosts: Hosts that a particular voter is a big fan of. (See: Kaga, Sanders, and Parker)
Yes, Mandy, you spelled Fugelsang correctly. But if Fugelsang's getting added, I would assume you'd have to also add Ben Mezrich.
As for it being difficult to see abuse in ToLs, some of the more blatant forms include, to give examples from the current ToL, tpir's treatment of Julie Chen and my own treatment of Mel Peachey. I just don't get what's to like about her, York, or to be honest, the show they work for, but I digress. And you should check your PM box in the near future, Neko.

Add him. I'm sure you could remove some of the really bad finishers from the tournament (uh, Louie Anderson...) so that some real fresh meat can be added. We know Louie's going to end up in the Copper Division like he always does. I want to see new faces, though. And relating to your statement about bad treatment in the Tournament of Losers, I'd really like to have tpirrules here to see what he says about this treatment of Chen. Chen doesn't suck. Nate and I have supported her by giving her votes. We've uncursed her; we've brought her votes before the BRE\-/KDOWN and Freeze Frame took place. But with that being said, I would like to hear other people's opinions before commenting on half of these subjects again. As for Kaga in the Hall of Fame... I said that if we got Kaga in the Hall, we could get Evelyn Ng in the Hall later on. I think Roy was still voting, and wouldn't have voted for Evelyn if you wanted him to, but it was safe to say that as soon as Hall got into the Hall, he left and never came back. (And that was how Cancellation came about.)

That general time period was an overall bad time for Roy: Monty got into the HoF, Toffler was dropped directly into the HoS, and the UGSS HoS inducted Wheel 2000.

That final two where Toffler got dropped into the Hall of Shame was him versus Elayne Boosler. I was really hoping Boosler got sent packing, since I never could stand her on Balderdash. I voted for her arse in every daily vote. I don't think I missed a day. Though in the end, I got shafted once again.
I'm the kind of girl who makes deals to try to make people happy. (If I get XXXXX into the Hall this time around, we'll get XXXXX into the Hall next time.) I'm usually winning all of those deals and keeping my promise.

Roy Boy really must have taken it hard. I mean he left and didn't come back.

Like I said, the enshrinements of the time were terrible for him. I checked his last posts before his disappearance, and it was immediately after Wheel 2000 was enshrined in UGSS ToL 4 and finished in the bottom division of UGSS 5. I think it was also just before the UGSHS HoS ws creepified.

Look at his last few posts. Where was the last post of his? Was Cancellation put into effect while he was still at GSN, or did he leave before the rule was put into place?

His last post was in UGSS 5, I believe. He left in the middle of UGSHS 16 and UGSHS ToL 16, so no, he never saw the power of Cancellation put in.

Well, Cancellation is also known as the RoyFurby Amendment and something about Evelyn Ng that is not coming to the front of my cranium at the moment. He must have been that pissed about having the feature named after him (50%).
