I was my usual Kingdom of Loathing chat, when the topic of emo came up. It was wierd becaouse everyone was realy into the current topic of spouse abuse. Anyway, a few bands were names in the whole EMO genre (you know what bands they are), but one band got named, that I truly disagreed with. The Mars Volta.
Yes the Mars Volta is my fav band, but they arnt EMO (and I saying that becaouse i dispise EMO band with a definite passion). Just becaouse there lyrics have passion behind them, and they have true meaning, dosenyt make them EMO, it makes them a very passionate band who loves to express the story they want to tell their listeners.
Anyway, my true question is what defines EMO?

MCR and The Used are emo and they're still awesome. Emo to me, is punk.

What are you talknig about. Punk music actuly has meaning to it other then "wha my life sucks". there is no way you can relate emo and punk music other then the fact that it is music.
