Ah, one of my favorite programs of what seems to be forever. I have 23 VHS tapes full of battles from the series and I don't think I'll give up that easy when it comes to getting those episodes I don't have yet onto more blank tapes.
Anyway, wonderful show this is! You take one secret ingredient and you have two chefs try to prepare as many fine dishes as they can using said ingredient as the main part of the dish in one hour. Then judges taste each dish and award points in three categories: Taste, Presentation, and Originality. The chef with the better score wins.
So...anyone catch this? If so, you like it?

For those of you who have Fine Living, the show's back on television on a nightly basis. I don't have the network, but I've heard through the grapevine (read as: those who have it) that some of the music has changed. They're playing episodes from 1998.

It's weird, but my entire family (minus Shannon) has become obsessed with Iron Chef America. It's become appointement TV for us. Right after the judging, we make a point of trying to guess who's going to win, and by how big of a general margin. I never saw the original version, but this one is good enough that I don't really feel like I need to.
Any of you watch it? And if so, could you tell me what the hell happened to Michael Symon?

I watched it a little bit at the beginning (when they did the crossover of sorts by bringing Sakai and Morimoto in as "challengers"), but I never could get into it as much as I did with the Japanese version. As for Symon, I couldn't tell you what happened to him. Sorry.

Before Morimoto took over for Puck... The battles were something like this: Flay versus Sakai Batali versus Morimoto Puck versus Morimoto Flay/Morimoto versus ??/Sakai I can't remember who Sakai's partner was; notes aren't in front of me at the moment.
